Southie FC upset Seacoast United Phantoms in round one of US Open Cup

Making their first appearance in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, Mass Soccer's very own Southie FC ran hosted the Seacoast United Phantoms (PDL) and ran out to an early lead thanks to a 12th minute strike from captain Roy Sandeman. With Southie looking to close out the match on the other side of halftime, the Boston-based side earned a penalty kick, which Sandeman converted in the 60th minute to lead his side to a 2-0 first round win. With the victory, Southie FC will pay a visit to the 2015 USL National Champions Rochester Rhinos in Second Round action on Wednesday, May 18.
