Coach Phil Keane's Kendall Wanderers A team took home the BSSL McKenzie Cup for the third time in club history with a 2-0 win over Warehouse Gunners on October 18th. After a scoreless first half, Kendall were able to find goals from two set piece plays to claim the coveted trophy. Their long road to the final came via wins over Washington Square FC, GPS Omens, Brandeiss FC Legends and Longwood FC... In league play, GPS Omens clinched the BSSL D1 title with 4 games to spare. They top the table with a 13-0-1 record (as of October 31, 2016) having scored 54 goals for and allowing just 14 goals against. It was a much tighter race in Division 2 up until the final matchday between Southie FC, Oneida Reserves and Taunton Eagles. in the end Southie FC secured the title with a 5-0 season finale win to end the season with 12 wins, 4 losses and 2 drawas. Joining Southie in D1 next year will be Taunton Eagles and perhaps Oneida Reserves if they win their playoff promotional match... And in Division 3 Washington Square FC and Longwood FC earned promotion to D2 with impressive campaigns after winning the D3 North and D3 South divisions respectively. Congrats to the BSSL board, coaches, managers players and staff for another successful season.
