The second round of the 2017 US Open Cup qualifying tournament is nearly complete with the exception of two games that were postponed due to weather. Seventeen teams have already punched their ticket to Round 3 including Mass Soccer's very own GPS Omens who defeated Connecticut powerhouse, Newtown Pride 3-1. The impressive win came on the road against the leaders of the Connecticut State League with goals from Eric Anderson (42'), Charlie Romero (52') and Ryan Dunn (65'). Keith Caldwell provided two assists for his club who are now one step closer to qualifying for the 2017 US Open Cup for the third time in four years. The matchups for the third qualifying round will be announced in mid-January along with the complete format for the 2017 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. GPS Omens look capable of not only qualifying but also capable of making a Cinderella run in the 2017 tournament. This year's US Open Cup winner was FC Dallas (MLS) who defeated the New England Revolution (MLS) 4-2 in the final. Good luck to GPS moving forward! You have the support of Mass Soccer.
