2022 State Finals

2022 State Amateur Cup Champions: Sidekicks FC

June 4, 2022: Our first USASA Women's Amateur Cup State Final in many years got off to a bumpy start. Missing soccer goals caused a last-minute relocation of the game to Madison Park High School. Both teams and referee crew were quick to adjust and work together to get everyone to the new venue!

After a brief warmup and our international walk out, the game kicked off!

Sidekicks jumped on the board first and early in the match.  Liz Carlos took a nice touch on a high bouncing ball, well outside the 18, and chipped it over the Kickbacks goalie, hitting the cross bar, and bounced down and across the goal line.

The game remained 1-0 through the first half with lots of action in the center third of the field.  Sidekicks had a few scoring threats that were run down by the Kickbacks defensive line.

About midway through the second half, the Sidekicks netted an insurance goal. Sidekicks outside midfielder, Jaclyn Evans, served a beautiful cross to the back post and Adeline Legault touched it in to make it 2-0 as seen here: Sidekicks 2nd Goal

As the second half wore on, goal keepers Autumn Scanlon (Kickbacks) and Casey Halles (Sidekicks) made fantastic saves to keep the score 2-0.

Sidekicks advance to the regional finals where they will face New Jersey.  More information on the regional final coming soon.
