2020 USASA Fricker Open Cup: GAMES SUSPENDED

After consultation with USASA and USSF, Mass Soccer is hereby initiating an immediate suspension of all soccer activities until further notice.  This includes all Regional Cup Games, all affiliated league and tournament play and team practices, and in-person gatherings and/or administrative meetings.  Liability protection will not be extended for any such activity that is not expressly approved by Mass Soccer or by USASA. 

We hope to have additional information as the situation develops.  Please contact us with any questions.

2020 Opening Round Action

We were able to run the opening rounds of 2020 USASA Fricker Cup Tournament.  Here are the highlights.

Safira vs Kendall Wanderers Select

Safira over Kendall Wanderers Select, East Boston Stadium: 4-1.

Recap: Safira was first to score in the match off of a header on a well placed corner kick. Kendall equalized on a PK, seen here: #23 Moran PK . Kendall went down to 10 on a red card, which proved too much of a challenge against an experienced Safira squad who added two more first half goals.  Geovane Lage scored assisted by Jorge Tineo (38th min), then Tineo netted his own (40th minute). Final goal of the game was scored by Safira on this PK:  #77 Matt Vidal PK.

Albania United vs GPS Omens

Albania United falls to GPS Omens, Reservation Road Park: 2-3 ET.

Recap: Harris Smriko put GPS on the board early 1-0, but Albania United's Rafael Santos answered with an equalizer. Albania's Robert Schallmo scored a go-ahead header goal on a rebound off an initial GPS's Katz save: Schallmo's Goal. In the 80th minute, GPS equalized on this: Luke Finkelstein Goal.  GPS continued to press which led to a break away up the middle and drew Albania goalie out of the box and into a red card penalty. Back up goalie made this diving save on the free kick to send the match into extra time. This extra time goal (cross by Luke Finkelstein to Pat Murray) secured a quarterfinal spot for GPS Omens.

2021 Champions - Providence City Rogues

USASA Region I Update

May 1, 2021: Providence City fell to FC Westchester 1-2 in Region I quarterfinals. 60' Westchester netted the first goal of the game, but Providence equalized at 65'.  68' Westchester scored the go ahead goal.
