August 14, 2022: In a well contested match, FC Omen's edged out Tudside FC in overtime yesterday by a score of 2-1.
Both teams had opportunities and outstanding saves. Key defensive stops during regulation kept the game scoreless through the first 100 minutes of play. Omens scored first, when Ollie Winn served up a beautiful cross and Tyler Macnee calmly slid and tapped in as seen here: Omens' Goal
Just 2 minutes later, Tudside almost answered with their own cross and one timer that hit the crossbar and deflected out as seen here: Tudside Cross Bar
Then in the 107 minute, another Tudside opportunity was saved by Omen's keeper, as seen here: Omens' Save
In the 117 minute, Omen's Ollie assisted this goal to Stanley Alves making it two to nill with only minutes remaining. Omen's 2nd Goal
However, Tudside fought back and denied the Omen's attempt to keep a clean sheet with a last-minute goal from Bruno Teixeira as seen here: Tudside Goal
We congratulate FC Omen's on their victory and their second Champions Cup title. They also won the 2019 Champions Cup. They continue to be one of the top teams in the state. We wish them luck in the rest of their BSSL season, where they sit in second place just one win behind Broadway Gunners. They also remain in contention for the 2022 BSSL McKenzie Cup. Finally, we will see them in the fall's Amateur Cup as the Mass Soccer #1 in the tournament.
Tip of our cap to Tudside for a fantastic showing in their second consecutive appearance in the Champions Cup. They entered this year's final with a 10-1 goal differential and showcased a deep bench and great team play. We look forward to seeing them in more of our upcoming tournaments and Cups. They are a team on the rise and looking to capture another OTHSL O30 topflight title this fall.

Started in the summer of 2015, Mass Soccer Champions Cup calls upon all its affiliated leagues to send us their strongest teams to square off each summer for the title of Champions Cup State Champion.
(This is an invitational tournament. Teams granted a berth in the tourney must have earned either a League or Cup title.)
Once the invitation is extended to a team, that team must accept or decline participation to the National Cup Commissioners by a set date.
Each June/early July the tournament draw will be announced via email and posted here. The tournament will run on weekends late July into early August at a location announced by Mass Soccer at the time that invitations are extended.
Tournament Rules Reminder: It is the responsibility of the team and their managers to review the Rules of the Tournament before confirming participation.
