November 5, 2022:  After a heat emergency postponed the Boston Unity Cup in August, we were excited to pick up where we left off and finish the tournament in cooler November conditions. The 2023 Boston Unity Cup was another huge success bringing together the community to celebrate our diversity and embrace our common Love of the Game!!

The games started early at 8am with quarterfinals. Then, at 10am, over 50 boys and girls joined the NE Revolution for the Youth Jamboree. Additionally, dozens of community members and soccer players enjoyed the Resource Fair hosted by Mass Health Connector.

Midafternoon, before the finals, athletes marched in the Parade of Nations led by Grooversity. Co-founder and organizer, Caroline Foscato reflected, "I have to say this (Parade of Nations) is always one of my favorite moments in the tournament, ...to see all the flags paraded, and the teams and community marching and dancing to the Afro-Brazilian beat!"

The finals in later afternoon were exciting matches. In the Women’s Division, Honduras came back from being down to USA 0-3 to win 4-3, and in the Men’s Division, Cape Verde won against USA in PKs. The competition couldn't have been better.

This year, like many others, Unity Cup was more than a soccer tournament. "Many players knew each other, some had just met, and at the end of matches shook hands and even some hugs. There was fierce competition, but they respected why this tournament was created - UNITY! And, to hear so many languages spoken on the field, it was a joy to be there and witness. It is so important we have these positive moments of coming together with collective joy and celebration," Foscato  summarized the highlights of the day.

Mass Soccer would like to congratulate Caroline, Nathan, & the entire Boston Unity Cup Leadership Team on another successful tournament.
