Massachusetts Adult Soccer

Eastern Massachusetts Women's Soccer League kicked off last summer's season with a Cleat Drive matched by New Balance. For every pair of used cleats collected, New Balance donated a new pair.  All told, EMWSL collected over 400 pairs of cleats! It was a huge success. The old cleats were distributed to Soccer Without Borders, a national non profit organization with a hub in Boston. The Soccer Without Borders mission is to use soccer as a vehicle for positive change, providing under-served youth with a toolkit to overcome obstacles to growth, inclusion, and personal success. 

Most of the New Balance cleats were given to four Massachusetts High Schools boys and girls soccer teams in Lynn, Salem, and Chelsea. Remaining pairs were given to scholarship players in a local youth program and NEFC. Watching 400 soccer players find their right size en masse is quite the picture. EMWSL thanks New Balance for their support, and to all those who donated their gently used cleats.

Are you doing some Spring cleaning? Nothing like this!! The OCWSL players organized a Saver's fundraiser that takes spring cleaning to the next level and all for a good cause. 

Here is how it works... They post a collection day and everyone in their community is invited to bring their donations of clothes and household items to a central location.  The OCWSL players are waiting and ready with cars and trucks to load up and bring them to Savers. (This takes a lot of teamwork to say the least!) Savers give them a check for the poundage they collect.  

This spring's Savers fundraiser collected 1220 lbs. of items. It was so successful that they are already planning another collection this fall. Another project they are working on is organizing their annual Cornhole fundraiser at Lucky Dawg Tavern in Pembroke on 9/8. 

Why do they fundraise?

Because they want to make a difference in their communities through funding outreach initiatives as well as being able to make some improvements in their league. 

Current the OCWSL sponsors a Weymouth Youth Girls Soccer team and  will awarded 3 scholarships for graduating seniors from Abington, Braintree ,and Weymouth.  Click here for more information on OCWSL Community Programs.

This league stresses the value of supporting youth and high school athletes because they are our future adult soccer players. One of the most valuable resources in our soccer communities are our teammates...  together we can make a difference.
