June 17,2018.: Ukrainain Amercan Sports Center - USASA Mengel Cup Region 1 Final

Our Warehouse Gunners were the first to strike in their match against regional powerhouse Christo's FC from Maryland.  They were able to net a goal at the 35min mark of the first half and held the lead into the last 30 second of the match when Christo's scored on a cross that ended up a goal. (Christos was playing with 10 at the time due to a send off in the 86th minute). The match headed to OT.

In the first OT, Gunners had a beautiful shot that hit the underside of the bar and spun out.  The match remained 1-1 at the end of OT and headed for PKs.

PK results:

1-1 after 2 rounds of PKs - with each team missing one.

Gunner's went up 3-2 after 4 rounds. Nice GK save lead to 3-3 after five rounds.

Gunner's player missed on the 6th and Christos finished... 

4-3 Christos FC in the 6th round of PKs.

June 3rd - Warehouse Gunners traveled to New York to defeat NY Pancyprian Freedoms 4- 2. Congrats to Warehouse Gunners on their semifinal victory!

This win pushes Warehouse Gunners through to the Region 1 Finals in Horsham, PA on June 17th where they will face powerhouse, Christos FC.

April 29,  2018:  BSSL's Warehouse Gunners defeated Polonia Wallington 2-1 in the USASA Region 1 Mengel Cup Quarterfinals. 

Both of Warehouse Gunner's goals were scored by #18 Marty Galvin. He struck first at the 24 minute mark, when he dispossessed a Polonia Wallington defender and beat the goalie 1v1. His second goal, he buried with a left toe poke in the upper corner of the net at the 65 minute mark. This put the Warehouse Gunners up 2-0.

But Polonia Wallington was not done yet.  A header off a corner kick, made it a 2-1 match with around 15 minutes remaining. "Game on" was heard from the Warehouse Gunner bench.

Although, Polonia Wallington had some attacking opportunities,  the Warehouse Gunners defending line stood strong and outstanding goalkeeping kept them at bay.  Warehouse Gunners also kept constant offensive pressure on Polonia Wallington into the final minutes of the match, including a shot off the post and  a shot off a nice crossing pass to an attacker that just went wide. 

Warehouse Gunners will advance to the Regional 1 semifinals and travel away to face the winner of NY Pancyprian Freedoms/Danbury United match on May 20th.  More USASA Mengel Cup Semifinal match details to come.

The Warehouse Gunners defeated the Western Mass scoring powerhouse, Villa Napoletana, 4-1. It was an early goal within the first 5 minutes of play followed by another 15 minutes in that helped open up the game for the Gunners.  A third goal was added right before the half and the score sat 3-0 going into the second half. 

Villa Napoletana was able to sneak one in the second half but that was not enough, as the Gunners also added a second half goal.  

In a rainy and cold final, the Warehouse Gunners clinched the O30 Mengel Cup with an end score of 4-1.  They will advance to play Polonia Wallington on Sunday, April 29th at 2pm at East Boston Stadium.
