Iraq FC vs Safira FC

Game 2 featured the CMTSL's Iraq FC against the OTHSL and defending Champions Cup Champions, Safira FC.  Although Safira possessed the ball well, Iraq had some very exciting strikes and counterattack’s.

This defensive battle stayed tied nill-nill into the 2nd half. Iraq FC's goalie used his speed and quickness and the Iraq defensive line held strong. Late into the second half, Iraq had a few exciting scoring opportunities, including one that Safira goalie made a beautiful sliding save, only to have the ball bounce back to an Iraq player. This Iraq midfielder returned a solid strike on the ball which was clearly on frame. The Safira defender who had dropped back to cover the goal, made a brilliant heading save on the goal line.

The match was filled with excitement and close calls, but it was Safira's #77 Renan Barbosa, who was able to net one in the last 12 mins for Safira.

Safira held on to win 1-0 and will advance to face Mosteiros in the finals.  This is a repeat of the 2017 Mass Soccer Champions Cup - Will Mosteiros be able to dethrone our defending champions, Safira?  We will see next Saturday at 4pm at Danehy Park Field 3.
