Semifinal Action!

March 24, 2019 - Marciano Stadium:  USASA Fricker Cup Men's Open State Semifinals featured Brockton FC verses Kendall Wanderers. It was a beautiful afternoon to watch these titans of the BSSL face off in the state semis.

Brockton FC put pressure on Kendall early with several shots on goal early.  Here is one corner kick that Kendall defense is able to head out:  Kendall corner kick clear.

However, on the next corner, #10 from Brockton places a ball into traffic and it deflects off a Kendall defender for the first goal of the game:  Brockton's First Goal

Brockton continued to press Kendall with an deflected through ball and then moment's later, Brockton was given a PK opportunity. However, Kendall goalie is able to make a brilliant save.

Kendall equalizes before half when Braima Samati is able to break though the Brockton defensive line and take a shot on the Brockton goal keeper. The Brockton keeper makes a great initial save, but the ball deflects back to Kendall's Robbie Sabadoz who is able to successfully put it past the diving Brockton goalie. The score remained tied 1-1 at the half. The second half kicked off with more great soccer.

However, not long into the second half, Brockton's #11 Edmilson Barros, is able to artfully place a corner kick directly into the net! Brockton took the lead 2-1. Mass Soccer really wishes we had video of the corner kick!!

Kendall defense and goalie continued to keep Brockton from scoring.  Here is another beautiful: Kendall Goalie Save that looked like it was headed for the upper right corner of the net.

Kendall had scoring opportunities later in the 2nd half, like this one off a set piece not far outside the 18 that went just wide. With time ticking down, Kendall was running out of time to equalize.

Brockton added a third goal off a PK late in the second half, putting the game just out of reach for the Kendall Wanderers. With the win, Brockton advances to the state finals where it will meet another BSSL rival, the GPS Omens.
