Kendall Wanderers vs GPS Omens

Semifinal Game 2: Kendall Wanderers vs GPS Omens

Our second semifinal match of the day featured two BSSL heavy weights: Kendall Wanderers vs GPS Omens. This game played out to be as predicted...  an evenly matched game featuring equally skilled clubs that it took 11 rounds of PKs to determine a victor.

The game remained tied through halftime and deep into the second hald despite these opportunities by both clubs:

GPS Direct kick

Kendall Shot

It was Kendall Wanderer's #8 Mitch Justus that was able to net one late in the 2nd half as seen here: GOAL Kendall Wanderers

GPS Omens did not concede, but rather stepped up their pressure. With a foul in the Kendall 18, GPS' Jake Highland was awarded a PK which he calmly converted with this: Late Game PK.

In extra time, both team exchanged pressure and shots on net but neither was able to score.

In an epic PK battle, both clubs put 21 shots in a row on net. All shots were scored, minus 2 saves by opposing keepers.

It was GPS Omen's goalie, Jason Katz, who came up huge, both by making this Goalie PK (his first PK taken since Middle School!) and with this Diving Save secured his team's spot in the finals!

GPS Omens advances to the Champions Cup final where they will face the 2018 defending champion, Mosteiros. This game will kick off on Saturday, August 10th at 10:30am at Danehy Park Field 3.
